Vera Elizabeth Crape

Vera Elizabeth Crape, age 73, passed away January 21, 2026, surrounded by family at Marion Post Acute. Vera was born to the late Andrew and Wilma (Wenzel) McCardle October 9, 1952, in Glen Dale, West Virginia. Vera married David Crape May 11, 1973, who survives. Vera is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gladys Crow, Arlie McCardle, Leroy Patrick, Henry Patrick, and Billy Patrick.

Vera is survived by husband of 52 years, David Frank Crape; children, Braden (Cathy) McCardle, Carrie (John) Roush, Chrissy (Kevin) Daily; grandchildren, Andrew (Tristan) McCardle, Alissa (Seth) Elerick, Braden (Kayla) McCardle, Sara Roush, Amber White, Megan Roush, Cody (Patti) Creech, Kylee (Cody) Kanniard, and Corby (Whittney) Creech. And also 14 great grandchildren.

Vera worked as an STNA most of her life. She loved having outdoor plants, ferns being her favorite. In her younger years she enjoyed going on sailing trips, vacations out of state, and going cave exploring. Vera loved her family very much; it was the most important thing to her. She was an amazing cook and baker, an avid reader, loved animals, and was a kind gentle soul.
