Marion

Thomas Marvin Lines Sr., 86, passed peacefully from his earthly life on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family at home. He was born September 21, 1939, in Marion, OH to the late Garland Emil Lines and Thelma Lucile (Rasey) Lines.

Tom shared a remarkable 64-year marriage with his beloved wife and best friend, Vera Ada Cdaily (Clark) Lines, whom he married on October 31, 1961. Together they built a life rich with companionship and simple joys. They especially loved traveling, attending car shows, cruising, square dancing, visiting casinos, and faithfully attending weekly TOPS meetings.

Tom found happiness in the outdoors and in the hum of a well-used garage. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed tinkering, remodeling homes, and transforming his hands-on talents into a thriving business. Over the years, he worked in many professions, but his favorite position was serving as a sergeant at the Marion Correctional Institution, where he dedicated many years before retiring in 2009.

Tom was preceded in death by his firstborn son and namesake, Thomas M Lines Jr., who passed away in 2010, as well as his brothers: Marion and John, and sisters: Marilyn, Carolyn, and Betty.

Tom's memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Vera; his children: Mary Franklin and Christopher Lines; and his sister Ruth (Lines) Gates. He leaves behind a proud and growing family of grandchildren: Anthony (Jennifer) Franklin, Chad (Mandy) Franklin, Thomas (Gina) Lines III, Shane Franklin, Brianna Lines, Kaylee Lines, Christopher Lines, and Emil Lines.

Tom was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Zoe Franklin, Fayth (Michael) Smiley, Hayleigh Franklin, Damian Lines, Sierra Franklin, Mallory Lines, twins: Thomas IV and James Lines, Gage Lines, and great-great-granddaughter Amiree Smiley.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Affordable Cremations, and no public services will be held. The family extends special recognition and heartfelt gratitude to Ruby Rinesmith for her unwavering support and care during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom's honor to The Parkinson's Foundation.

Tom will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, skilled craftsman, and loyal friend whose steady presence and quiet strength left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.
