She was born to the late Oscar Lowry and Nadine (Nusser) Lowry and was a lifelong resident of Meeker. On September 2, 1954, Margaret married the love of her life, Paul J. Cocherl, in Richwood, Ohio, and together they shared many wonderful years until his passing in 2004.

For many years, Margaret worked as a cafeteria cook at Meeker and Morral Schools, where she enjoyed serving meals and sharing a smile with students and staff alike.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Eckard of Marion, and her son, John (Cindy) Cocherl of New Bloomington; her sister, Judy Heller of Marion; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Lowry of Marion; her brother-in-law, Roger Higgins of Meeker; grandchildren Brandelyn (BJ) Ardnt of Mount Gilead, John P. Cocherl of Meeker, Nathan (Sarah) Cocherl of Marion, Cole (McKenna) Cocherl of Marion, and Meridith (Nathanial) Hickman of Marion; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret had a love for baking, especially cakes, and was known for making the best homemade sugar cookies. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers, traveling to Greek Town with her senior citizen friends, and sitting on her porch watching hummingbirds, always finding joy in life’s simple pleasures.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her loved ones, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Marion Valley Post Acute and Capital City Hospice for the incredible care and compassion shown to Margaret in her final days.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Meeker United Methodist Church.
