Loren Gene Helms

Loren Gene Helms Sr., 73, passed away January 18, 2026, at home in Marion, Ohio. Loren was born to the late Harrison and Sydney (Huntsman) Helms March 13, 1952, in Marion. Loren was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, George Helms, Raymond Helms, Mystery Gilbert, Harry Helms, and David Helms.

Loren is survived by children, Katherine (Jeffrey) McDonald and Loren (Kelly) Gene Helms Jr.; fiancé, Tina Stiles; siblings, Judy Lower, Karen Powell, and Frank (Carol) Helms; 19 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; his favorite dog, Baby; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In his spare time he enjoyed playing video games on his phone, watching cartoons his favorite being Scooby-Doo, listening to Karaoke, going dancing, and playing cards. He was a mechanic in the Air Force for 20 years, which led him to also work on cars in his civilian life. Loren took many trips out of state for vacation and to visit family over the years and had been volunteering with the church he attended, Marion Nazarene. He was a member of the American Legion post 162. He’ll be deeply missed by all that knew him.

The family invites friends to come visit from 2PM-3PM at the Marion Nazarene Church, Friday January 30, 2026. There will be a Celebration of Life service following the visiting hours at 3PM. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society. Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
