Joseph A. Gribbin, age 83, passed away surrounded by family, June 30, 2025. Joe was born to the late John and Emma (Elder) Gribbin February 4, 1942 in Utica, New York. Joseph proposed to Johnis (Tyler) Gribbin November 15, 2017, which is when they would celebrate their anniversary but they officially united in marriage on January 20, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Gribbin.
Joseph is survived by loving wife, Johnis Gribbin; children, Claire Gribbin, John (Kim) Perren, Shawn Tyler, and LaToya (Shaun) McGary; brothers, Johnny (Angela) Gribbin and Steve (Cheri) Gribbin; childhood friend Peter O’Brien; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that he adored.
Joe was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Mansfield. He owned his own printing business in his younger years, then went on to work at Ohio Bell which eventually became Ameritech from which he retired from. Joe loved tinkering with electronics and loved operating his HAM radio. He was a member of the Lions Club.
Joe always had an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed inventing things. He loved hosting the Saturday night Bible studies, and really got invested in learning for each new week of the scripture and studies. He also worked for a short stint as the Salvation Army Treasurer. When he was younger he and his brothers all had a part in building the new two-story garage that their father used as an engineering office.
The family will be receiving friends at Westside Baptist Church, 3720 W 4th St. Ontario, OH 44903, from 11AM-12PM Wednesday July 16, 2025. There will be a Funeral service following the visiting hours at 12PM. Interment to take place at Marion Cemetery (620 Delaware Ave. Marion, OH 43302). The family would like memorials and donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Heart Association.
