Jeffrey G Johnston

April 6, 1956 — May 3, 2026

Marion

Jeffrey Grant Johnston, affectionately known as “Mouse,” age 70, of Marion, Ohio, passed May 3, 2026,  surrounded by a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Jeff was born and raised in Marion, Ohio, a place he proudly called home throughout his life. He spent many years as a skilled welder at Marion Power Shovel before finishing his career as a respected Production Manager at UTLX. His strong work ethic and leadership earned him the admiration of coworkers and friends alike.

Jeff was married to the love of his life, Susan (Sue) Johnston, for 52 wonderful years. Together they built a life rich in family traditions, friendship, and fun. He was an admired and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. Jeff is survived by his wife Susan Johnston; daughter Michelle Ogle and son‑in‑law Robert Ogle; son Jeffrey Johnston II; and grandchildren Lucy and Stella Johnston, Tyler and Drake Gandee, and Danica Ogle. He is also survived by his brothers Jim Johnston and Billy Johnston, along with a large and lively extended family of aunts, uncles, friends, and plenty of crazy tuzin’s. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mary Johnston; sister Beth Wilds; parents‑in‑law Bob and Mary Jean Spaeth; and sister‑in‑law Sally McFarland.

Jeff truly lived life to the fullest. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, golf, camping, boating, bowling, and, most of all, spending time with his family, friends, and beloved furbabies. Some of his favorite memories included his proud reign as Governor of C Dock at Bay Point and the annual family and friends trips to Myrtle Beach—traditions filled with laughter, sunshine, and stories that will live on forever. Known as the life of the party, Jeff rarely met a stranger and even more rarely made an enemy. His playful spirit, infectious laughter, and legendary “Johnston faces” made every gathering better just by his presence. He would want nothing more than to be remembered through fun stories, shared laughs, and yes—party hats (if you know, you know).

Jeff will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. His family encourages everyone to honor him the way he lived—with joy, love, and a good story to tell. Jeffrey Grant Johnston “Mouse” will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
