Howard L Cranston, age 54 of Marion, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 9, 2026, at his home. He was born October 20, 1971, to the late Everett Cranston and Barbara (Berry) Cranston, who survives in Marion. Howard was married for 35 years to Angel Cranston, who also survives.
Howard is survived by his mother, his wife, sons: Devin Cranston of Marion and Shane Zuspan of Florida, daughter Jeanette Cranston of Marion, grandchildren: Xavier Cranston and Leon Cranston, and sister Holly Johnson of Marion.
Howard graduated high school then worked in construction and as a musician. He played the guitar for different bands, loved to go fishing and hang out with the family, and truly enjoyed any activity relating to music.
Howard lived a life built on passion, hard work, and a profound love for family and music. A true jack-of-all-trades and a master of construction, he spent his life building and creating. There wasn't a problem he couldn't solve or a project he couldn't tackle. Howard's incredible knack for fixing things earned him legendary status among his family-so much so that his grandson was famous for comforting others with the simple, confident truth, "Don't worry, Papaw can fix it." And he always did.
When he didn't have a hammer or wrench in his hand, Howard was holding a musical instrument. A seasoned musician with a rich, soulful passion for playing, he brought joy to crowds of all sizes. From intimate small-town local gigs to rocking the stage at bigger bars across Pittsburgh, his music was the soundtrack to many unforgettable nights. Whether on stage or strumming on the porch with family, his talent brought people together and lit up every room he entered.
Above all his achievements and talents, Howards greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose wisdom, warmth, and generous spirit leave an indelible mark on anyone who knew him.
