Franklin "Jimmy" Shropshire

Franklin James “Jimmy” Shropshire, age 66, of Cardington, passed away on October 7, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1960 James L. Shropshire and Nancy L. (Johnson) Shropshire.

Franklin spent his career in the drywall and finishers union based out of Detroit for many years. After retiring from the union, he drove semi trucks for several years after.

If you knew Jimmy, you knew he always had a punch-line ready. His favorite was: “I grew up in Franklin County. My name is Franklin — so let me be Frank with you.” He had a quick wit and a grin that could lighten any situation with his “Jimmy-isms”.

Jimmy loved his children and grandchildren and treasured time at home with his family. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, caring and maintaining his yard, and grilling some steaks. Known as the “fix-it man,” he could handle just about anything. He was also a devoted and die-hard Ohio State football fan — Forever a Buckeye.

He is survived by his partner of 28 years, Tina Johnson; his daughter, Amber Shropshire-Trnka (Blake); and the two children he raised, Damian Johnson (Bridgett) and Brittany (Chris). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Max, Miles, Kaylee, Brayden, Lincoln, Leni, Ayden, Brentley, Mackenzie, Riley and his sisters, Pam Shropshire, Kim (Harvey) Smith, and Kellie (Glenn) Wiseman nephew Wes, Jayden, Cody niece Kylie.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Justin Lance Woodard.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, 3055 State Route 95, Edison, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m., with a fellowship meal to follow.
