Carolyn Sue Anderson, 81, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. She was born on April 3, 1945, in DeWitt, Arkansas, to Harold Lloyd and Juanita Stephenson.
Carolyn attended Henderson State University in Arkansas and Oklahoma State University. She dedicated much of her professional life to education, teaching home economics in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Ohio. She also worked in the mental health field, continuing a lifelong commitment to helping others.
Carolyn had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved, remembered, and appreciated. She never forgot a birthday, regularly sent thoughtful cards and gifts, and made a point of calling friends and family to stay connected. Her kindness was more than a gesture; it was a way of life. When a dear friend faced cancer treatment, Carolyn faithfully supported her, making sure she was eating well, staying active, and receiving the encouragement she needed. She was the kind of person who showed her love through her actions.
An active and enthusiastic member of the Marion community, Carolyn spent many happy hours at the Marion Senior Center, where she volunteered, played mahjong and bingo, and enjoyed the company of her many friends. She also worked at Curves fitness in Marion, where she formed friendships that lasted the rest of her life. Carolyn loved walking and exercising, and she could often be found with more steps on her pedometer than just about anyone around her. She also enjoyed buying and selling clothing on eBay, a hobby that kept her busy and entertained.
Carolyn attended MVA Church of Christ, where she participated in the senior group and valued the fellowship of her church family.
Above all, Carolyn cherished her family and friends. She loved wholeheartedly and always made time for those who mattered to her. Her four grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Whether through a phone call, a thoughtful gift, a shared laugh, or simply being present, Carolyn made sure the people in her life knew they were loved.
Carolyn is survived by her two sons, David (Stephanie) Anderson and Doug (Dorcas) Anderson; her four beloved grandchildren, Josh, Miriam, Caleb, and Evan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Lloyd and Juanita Stephenson, and her sister, Judy Arnold.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at MVA Church of Christ in Marion, Ohio.
In keeping with her wishes, Carolyn donated her body to science, offering one final gift in a lifetime marked by generosity and care for others. Her cremated remains will be interred at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Senior Center Events Fund in Carolyn’s memory.
Carolyn’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless ways she made others feel remembered, valued, and loved.
