Brenda Gay Surber

Brenda Gay Surber, age 77, passed away at home January 2, 2026. Brenda was born to the late Ossie and June (Hale) Adams October 20, 1948, in Salyersville, Kentucky. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents.

Brenda is survived by children, Ginger Howard, Bradley Howard, and Robert William Surber Jr.; siblings, Ruie Young, Garland Adams, and Carma Armstrong; grandchildren, Alicia Howard, Ashley Lindsey, and Lane Howard; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Dorian, Dalyn, and Ariyah; and her beloved fur baby Apollo.

Brenda worked most her life as a grocery store department manager. Brenda made daily trips to the Millstream Credit Union, and enjoyed her visits with her extended bank family. She was not one to sit down, always on the go, and there was nothing she couldn’t do. Brenda loved her family very dearly, and was a full-time mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She played softball for many years, enjoyed motorcycle rides, and was a Harley girl. Brenda also had quite the greenthumb; she canned and made jellies. Brenda was a true down home American Woman and will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be a Celebration of Life service October 18, 2026, at McKinley Park Erickson Pavilion, 1000 McKinley Park Dr. Marion, OH 43302 from 11-4pm. Interment will be at Marion Cemetery, where she’ll rest in one of their niche boulders. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association .
