Alvin Ray Tharp

Alvin Ray Tharp, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 5, 2025, at Marion General Hospital, after battling strokes and heart disease for many years. He was born to Roy William and Joyce Luedtke Tharp on March 7, 1956. Alvin also had a half brother, James Luedtke, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Teresa Irene Davis Tharp. Alvin had 3 children: Kimberly Nicole (Joshua) Ball, Michael Allen Tharp, and Roy William (Mercedes) Tharp, good friends Mark and Carly Cahill, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren: Kahlan Elizabeth (Christian) Ball Sargent, Ryker Tremble (2 years), Taytum Rose (9 months), Emily Grace Ball, Lucas Eicher, Mason Alan Tharp, Thomas Leroy Clouse Tharp, Jordan Daniel Hendricks-Tharp, Skylar Maria-Ann Tharp, Roy William Tharp II, Aubrey Rose Brickner, and Nicole Voet. 

Alvin worked at Turbo Parts for 13 years. He had several hobbies. He loved to fish and Magnet Fish. His life was involved around his family and friends.

He loved football-Dallas Cowboys and Ridgedale Rockets; whether sitting at the very top of the bleachers to see his boys (the entire team), or driving them home from practice with that odor; he was completely content.

Alvin loved his daughter Kimberly and was very proud of her-she went to college, raising 2 girls and working full time to become a medical assistant.

Alvin attended Richland Road Church of Christ and worked at the camp every summer. in lieu of flowers, please donate to the North-Western Ohio Christian Youth Camp (address checks to Richland Road Church of Christ-Matt Dahm or Joshua Ball.

A service will be held Friday August 22, 2025, at Richland Road Church of Christ (535 Richland Rd. Marion, OH 43302) at 6:30 pm, with a dinner to follow in the fellowship hall. Moments of remembrance may be left online at www.affordablecremationservicesofohio.com.
